Dame Joan Collins has revealed that she was asked to
lose weight for one of her starring roles in a new
Instagram post. The 84-year-old star shared a vintage photograph of herself as character Crystal in the 1956 film The Opposite Sex. In the photo, shared with the actress' 62,000 followers on Thursday, the Dynasty veteran poses in a lace corset showcases her slender physique. But despite her slim figure the actress revealed that she was encouraged to slim down by producers. Captioning the photo the screen star wrote: 'The producers thought I needed to lose weight for this movie #tbt #nodiets #throwbackthursday' Upon seeing the photo the star's followers wasted no time in sharing their outrage over the news. One commented on the photo writing: 'I would like to know from where? Your figure is perfect!' Another agreed adding: 'You weren't called one of the most beautiful women in the world for nothing!

The Hollywood legend has previously spoken out about how she was encouraged to take diet pills by studio bosses. Appearing on This Morning earlier this year Dame Joan explained how she was branded 'too fat' as a 20-year-old starlet starting out in Hollywood.
She was put on a Dexedrine, a central nervous system stimulant and amphetamine which is used to treat sleeping condition narcolepsy.
Judy Garland, who died aged 47 from a barbiturates overdose, was reportedly also given the same prescription.
The pills halted her appetite at once, having the desired effect on the star's waistline - but rather than slam the studio honchos who risked her health, she insisted the drugs made her a work-mad machine..
